Putting Tucson on High Alert: What the New Sportage Will Look Like

With the launch of the new Sportage on the horizon, Kia’s latest design has been applied
Significant changes to the rear end have been confirmed

Last year, Kia’s flagship model, the Sportage, recorded sales of 69,749 units. This vehicle has been popular for 30 years since its debut in 1993 as a four-wheel-drive SUV. The Sportage continues to attract a large following due to its practicality, design, and reasonable price.

Many are excited about the beloved Sportage’s scheduled facelift this year. There’s a heightened interest in design improvements, as there have been many criticisms about the previous rear-end design. Recently, a test car was spotted on the road, revealing some new design elements.

Sharp design of DRL
A densely patterned grill was applied

Realistic prediction images of the Sportage, created by Gotcha Car, a popular YouTube car reviewer based on spy shots, have become a hot topic among netizens. The highly rated design wouldn’t feel out of place if released precisely as rendered. So, what does it look like? Let’s take a closer look.

Starting from the front, Kia’s latest design elements are incorporated throughout. The Starmap Signature DRL is applied, with horizontal and vertical lamps intersecting in a T shape. Unlike the Carnival, where the DRL is connected in one row, the lights here are slightly spaced apart. The end line of the lamp is sharply finished, creating a sleek look.

Vertical emphasis on tail lamp design
The thin, protruding part is retained

The headlamp line, redesigned to match the new DRL, is also vertically oriented. The trapezoidal grill outline has been changed to a more stable square shape, and a dense pattern has been applied. At the top of the grill, Kia’s tiger nozzle grill, shaped like a tiger’s nostrils, is applied conclusively.

The rear end also applies the design principle of Starmap Signature Lighting. The overall shape of the lamp is similar to the previous model, but when you look inside the lamp, you can see a D-shaped graphic. Previously, the lamp graphics were arranged along the inner line of the tail lamp in a triangular shape, but this time, the graphics are placed along the outer line.

The newly applied tail lamp is more angular than before, and the current thin, protruding part is retained. Many complained that the lower rear end looked dull, but this has been significantly revised in the new prediction. A trapezoidal line connects under the line that crosses the tailgate. Previously, an inverted trapezoidal line with a vast glossy area existed.

In the prediction, the glossy area has been reduced to match the bumper. The chrome garnish applied to the bumper is shaped like a “D.” The chrome garnish’s design matches the tail lamp’s graphic, creating a sense of unity.
