News about the Ford Mustang, now in its 7th generation and celebrating its 60th anniversary, has been revealed. Following the world’s best-selling coupe, a two-door model, a convertible, and the Mach-E electric crossover, a new model could soon be added to the lineup.

The new model is said to be a four-door sports car. Ford officials expressed a positive outlook for this model, which is receiving much attention. In addition, with this news, additional prospects for the Mustang are also being delivered, attracting the industry’s attention.

4-door Mustang became a hot topic
Officials also reveal the details

The four-door Mustang has become a hot topic due to the official sketch unveiled in 2022. Afterward, official renderings with a longer body appeared, attracting much attention to the launch. Moreover, Ford officials even conducted an interview hinting at the possibility of a new model.

In a recent interview, the CEO of Ford stated that the company would always maintain the authentic Mustang identity and would not label any vehicle that deviates from this, such as a small two-row SUV, as a Mustang. He confirmed that the new model would adhere to the traditional Mustang design. Further, he noted the potential for introducing a four-door model, provided it embodies the performance and attitude characteristic of the original Mustang.

To establish a 4-door model
Referring to Porsche’s strategy

For the 4-door model to successfully settle into the Mustang lineup, it may be wise to look at Porsche’s approach. Porsche has successfully marketed various derivatives of the 911 model, from the standard versions to the high-performance GT2 RS, achieving strong market results. Similarly, Ford officials are eyeing the potential for a high-end model that captures the unique appeal of a muscle car, aiming to target the market effectively.

The four-door Mustang is expected to target a market similar to the Dodge Charger, which will be launched as a coupe and sedan in the muscle car segment. In addition, fierce competition is expected with four-door coupes and sports sedans such as the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and Audi A5 Sportback in the high-performance vehicle segment.

Mustang’s V8 Love
Will it be shown in 4 doors, too?

The Mustang is known as the last remaining V8 muscle car on sale, and Ford is putting a lot of effort into keeping this model alive. In particular, they are strongly opposed to electric vehicles. An official expressed Ford’s love for the V8 engine by saying, “One thing I can promise is that we will never make a pure electric Mustang.”

However, the electrification of the Mustang is one of the futures that can be fully anticipated. Not only do high-performance electric vehicles like the Mach-E electric crossover already exist, but hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are also likely to launch in the next few years. If the much-talked-about Mustang 4-door sports sedan is launched, it could be fun to see what powertrain it will be equipped with.
