Only 60 Furia Supercars to Hit the Roads Worldwide

Portugal produces supercars

What is the performance level?

Portuguese vehicles generally don’t have a high profile on the global stage. However, with the recent emergence of several supercar manufacturers, Portugal is making headlines in the supercar market.

The Furia, introduced by a new Portuguese manufacturer named Adamastor, has gained recognition as Portugal’s first supercar. While supercar manufacturers typically succeed with brands that boast a long history and tradition, it’s worth taking a closer look at the performance of this vehicle from Portugal’s new automaker.

Resembling Aston Martin’s Valkyrie, Made Up for Lack of Power with Lightweight

At first glance, the design is reminiscent of Aston Martin’s Valkyrie. However, Adamastor’s Furia has completely different features. It is equipped with Ford’s 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine and produces 641 horsepower. The main difference from existing internal combustion engine supercars is that they can run on synthetic fuel.

It takes about 3.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill, and the maximum speed is about 300 km/h (186 mph). Although the engine’s output appears insufficient compared to other supercars, it still delivers excellent performance because its curb weight is only 1,099 kg (2422.9 lbs). Another feature is that it uses a racing car-specific steering wheel and transmission.

Limited Production of 60 Units, Unrealistic Price of $1.73 million

Built to increase aerodynamic efficiency, the underbody has two air passages that optimize airflow and generate approximately 990 kg (2182.6 lbs) of downforce. Even though it is a supercar, it can accommodate up to two people and can be customized to suit the buyer’s taste.

Adamastor’s Furia will be produced in a limited edition of just 60 units. The price is close to $1.73 million. It appears rarer than its rivals, Aston Martin’s Valkyrie and Mercedes’ AMG-One. Considering that it is a vehicle made by a new supercar manufacturer, there is criticism that the price is absurd.

Unexpected Success Predicted

Adamastor’s aggressive strategy is believed to target competitors such as Rimac, Koenigsegg, and Pagani. Some even predict, “Considering that even today’s famous supercar brands had low awareness initially, their chances of success may be slim.”
