POSCO Secures 14th Consecutive Win as the World’s Top Steelmaker

POSCO has been named the World’s Most Competitive Steelmaker for the 14th consecutive year.

On the 18th (local time in New York), WSD (World Steel Dynamics), a global steel analysis agency, announced the results of the World-Class Steelmaker Rankings.

Despite the downturn in domestic demand and the expansion of global trade issues, POSCO has managed to overcome these challenges and has fully normalized operations after the cold rolling mill. It has achieved the highest score in six categories, including technological innovation, processing costs, human resources, mergers and acquisitions/joint investments, national risk, and downstream/non-steel industries, recording 8.62 out of 10, securing the top spot.

Established in 1999, WSD evaluates 23 items such as technological innovation, cost reduction, processing costs, financial soundness, customer accessibility, and raw material accessibility for the top 35 steel companies worldwide. It has been announcing the comprehensive competitiveness rankings every year since 2002.

These rankings are essential for assessing major global steel companies’ business performance and future development potential.

WSD explained that POSCO’s high score was due to its efforts to produce low-carbon steel, in line with its vision of “Green Tomorrow, with POSCO.”

Meanwhile, the World Steel Association selected POSCO as the Sustainability Champion for the second consecutive year in April. It won the “Sustainability” category in October at the Steelie Awards.
