Tesla Faces Setback as Swedish Strike Case Ends in Defeat

Tesla has lost in a court appeal to mitigate the impact of a strike in Sweden. Over the past two months, Tesla service workers in Sweden have been on strike to be included in collective agreements.

This strike is for union formation. Elon Musk, who always has a negative stance towards unions, strongly expressed his opposition by using the phrase “This is Insane” through his social media X account.

Initially, this strike was not taken seriously as only 100 service employees in Sweden participated. However, the situation changed as Swedish port workers, electric technicians, and cleaning service companies began to sympathize.

It was reported that Tesla Sweden was directly instructed by Musk not to sign any collective bargaining agreement with IF Metall, a union supporting Tesla workers. This led to a complete halt in negotiations.

However, the situation became complicated again when a PostNord employee delivering license plates to the Swedish Transport Agency refused to deliver Tesla’s license plates. This was seen as a potential obstacle to Tesla Sweden’s deliveries. The most effective sympathy strike has shown its power.

Tesla tried to force document delivery to the postal service by bringing this issue to court, but Bloomberg reported that such efforts were completely halted in the appellate court. Bloomberg reported that the Swedish appellate court stated that the post office cannot end the strike and respecting a legal strike does not constitute a destructive act. If Tesla’s request is approved, there is a risk of infringing on the rights of employees, it was added.

There is a growing interest in Elon Musk’s response to this.
