At the event, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, stated that their goal is to become one of the top five car manufacturers in the world over the next 15 to 20 years, adding that their competitors are Porsche and Tesla.

Xiaomi’s latest EV, the SU7, is a four-door model designed to comfortably accommodate up to five passengers, with a length of approximately 5 meters (16.4 feet). It is available in two versions: one with LiDAR technology and a standard edition. The SU7 stands out for its advanced autonomous driving capabilities and an integrated operating system facilitating seamless connectivity with Xiaomi’s smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices. As of now, specific details regarding the release date and pricing remain undisclosed.

The car is equipped with a 73.6 kWh battery and can travel 668 km (415 miles) (CLTC standard), 530 km (329 miles) (WLTP standard), and 458 km (285 miles) (EPA standard) on a single charge. The electric motor can generate a maximum output of 295 horsepower.

Xiaomi announced it will invest $10 billion in the automotive business over the next 10 years to establish a solid foothold in the Chinese electric car market.
