Apple’s Vision Pro Expected to Ship 500,000-600,000 Units in 2024

Apple’s latest product, the Apple Vision Pro, a mixed-reality headset, is now available with pre-orders ahead of a February 2 launch.

Online pre-orders for the Vision Pro began at 5 a.m. on the 19th (local time). Despite the high price, which starts at $3,499, the headset has been met with overwhelming customer demand, showing signs of success.

The Vision Pro is an entirely new form factor that Apple has released nine years since the Apple Watch in 2014. It was first unveiled at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June last year. The development period took over seven years, and over 1,000 developers were involved.

Apple says its new Vision Pro is not a virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) headset but “spatial computing.” It was developed to implement iPhone functions through the Vision Pro headset.

The sale price is $3,499 based on a storage capacity of 256GB. The 512GB model is $3,699, and the 1TB is $3,899.

Wall Street experts do not see the Vision Pro as an immediate source of revenue for Apple right away. Swiss investment bank UBS estimated that if Apple ships about 400,000 Vision Pros this year, the revenue would be around $1.4 billion. Market research firm TrendForce had previously estimated this year’s Vision Pro shipment to be around 500,000 to 600,000 units.
