Tesla’s Big Move: World’s Largest Supercharger Station Coming to California

Tesla plans to construct the world’s largest new Supercharger station. This is an area Tesla is focusing on, along with its continuous investment of billions of dollars in computing performance to support the possibility of operating RoboTaxis in North America by 2024 and AI initiatives.

Tesla owns the best charging network, the Supercharger network, and is evolving to meet the diverse needs with increased electric vehicles. More charging stations are needed, and more chargers need to be added. They also emphasized the need for diverse configurations to allow access to new types of electric vehicles like trucks.

Tesla plans to build a new Supercharger station in California. It is intended in Kern County, California, near Highway 5, intersecting with Highway 46. According to the building permit application, the new station will have more than 160 Supercharger stalls, making it the largest in the world.

Such a stall configuration allows the people who tow electric vehicles, such as the Cybertruck, to use the Supercharger without unlinking their trailer.

In addition, Tesla plans to build a microgrid composed of batteries and solar canopies at the Supercharger station. This is to lower peak demand, which can lead to a significant reduction in charging costs.
