Omega X Sexual Harassment Case Takes New Turn with Video Evidence

Spire Entertainment’s CEO Hwang Sung Woo has released a video of Omega X member Hwichan allegedly committing sexual harassment.

On March 19, a press conference was held at Seongnam Art Hall in Seoul regarding the sexual harassment case involving Omega X. Spire Entertainment CEO Hwang Sung Woo and Je Ha law firm attorney Kim Tae Woo attended the press conference.

Spire Entertainment revealed a security footage screenshot submitted as evidence by Omega X, alleging that former CEO Kang was sexually harassed.

Kim presented evidence to the police against the alleged sexual harassment by Kang against a member of Omega X. The evidence is a clip captured by security footage from the Spire office on July 11, 2022, at precisely 2:41 AM KST. The video was submitted as evidence against the claim that Kang inappropriately touched a male member of the group.

Following the disclosure of excerpts from Omega X’s complaint, Kim elaborated, “The complaint details sexual harassment against plaintiff Lee Hwichan, who was allegedly intoxicated and unable to resist at the time. Initially, we lacked sufficient evidence due to the video’s deletion. However, we recently managed to recover the footage.”

In the video released by Spire, a man alleged to be Omega X’s Hwichan is seen standing and pressing down on Kang’s neck and shoulder. In another video, the same man is seen touching Kang’s chest and lifting his shirt.

According to Hwang, following an executive meeting, there was a discussion about reporting the incident to the police and potentially removing the member involved. However, prioritizing the group’s future, Kang handled the situation internally. This reportedly involved Hwichan’s temporary suspension of activities through military enlistment after their completed tour. Hwang further claims that both he and Kang informed all 11 members of the alleged sexual harassment incident at the time.

Hwang addressed the recordings submitted by the members, stating, “Some members, presumably feeling they could no longer tolerate the situation, began collecting evidence through recordings they believed were necessary.”

Kim stated that the complaint would be filed after the press conference.

Hwang addressed media reports surrounding Omega X, stating, “There have been inaccuracies circulating about the situation. To clarify the facts, I decided to release the video today. Earlier news reported charges against the group, but it’s important to note that the assault allegation against Kang was forwarded to prosecutors on March 15 following a police investigation. However, on the 16, a request for further investigation was made. There’s currently no final decision on the alleged assault.” He concluded, “With ongoing misinformation, I felt compelled to share the video to provide a more complete picture.”
