From Rags to Riches: Trot Singer Park Ji Hyeon’s Story

MBC Radio Star

Trot singer Park Ji Hyeon has captivated audiences with his rags-to-riches story, stemming from his humble past to his life-changing success through Mr.Trot 2.

The May 8 episode of MBC’s Radio Star features a special edition called “Jumping Up with Issues,” with Park Young Gyu, Jang Su Won, Song Ji Eun, and Park Ji Hyeon filling the broadcast with their vibrant banter.

The episode revealed the recent activities of Park Ji Hyeon, the “Rising Trot Star,” who is constantly busy with events, concerts, and preparing new songs. Park Ji Hyeon shared what fans love about him, and expressed his gratitude to his fans who are even busier than he is, cheering for him like their own child. He also revealed the “nonsense comments” that became a hot topic in I Live Alone, to which Jang Su Won calmly welcomed Park Ji Hyeon as “part of his crew.”

Park Ji Hyeon expressed his wish to secure the corner spot in Radio Star due to his severe facial asymmetry. Upon hearing Park Ji Hyeon’s story that “it’s almost deformity level if you take an X-ray,” Kim Gu Ra encouraged him with a compliment that “even though the left and right are different, the balance is good.”

Park Ji Hyeon is the protagonist who received the quickest “all heart” throughout the previous season of Mr.Trot 2. He drew attention by mentioning a story of facing elimination due to an unexpected issue. He also revealed his past of sleeping in a corner of a PC room with his parents and sister without a proper house or room and bathing on the veranda instead of a shower room. Park Ji Hyeon said, “It was hard to bathe in the cold winter, so I even shaved my head,” making the viewers feel emotional. He amazed everyone by unfolding his life-changing story of succeeding in the challenge of Mr.Trot 2.

Park Ji Hyeon revealed that he often hears that his appearance resembles Choi Min Yong, Gree, and Lim Young Woong. In response to Kim Gu Ra’s comment, “Let’s go with resembling Lim Young Woong,” he appealed, “I hear that I look like Dong Hyun the most.” On this day, Park Ji Hyeon showed a “dutiful singer” moment following the “dutiful singer” Hyun Sook, especially moving everyone with his words, “I give most of my income to my parents. I’m happy.”

Park Ji Hyeon’s continuous stories of his humble past and Mr.Trot 2 success story can be seen on Radio Star which will broadcast at 10:30 PM (KST) on May 8.
