HYBE Chairman Accused of Ignoring NewJeans’ Greetings: A Mother Speaks Out

Amid allegations that Chairman Bang Si Hyuk of HYBE ignored greetings from the members of NewJeans, the mother of a NewJeans member has spoken out.

According to the Daily Sports report on May 13th, the mother and three other NewJeans mothers visited HYBE on April 25th.

Regarding the claims that “Chairman Bang Si Hyuk did not acknowledge the members’ greetings,” the mother said, “Not only my child but others too, have had similar experiences after their debut. One child said he was ignored even in the same elevator,” adding, “When we raised the issue again, representatives from HYBE said ‘you’re misunderstanding,’ and ‘Chairman Bang might have face blindness.'”

Furthermore, the mother revealed that she heard Representative Park Ji Won say, “After the Tokyo Dome (concert), we plan to give (NewJeans) a long vacation.” The mother stated, “I didn’t ask how long the vacation would be. At that moment, Representative Park Ji Won said, ‘It takes about a year and a half to hire a Grammy producer, but we’re trying to do it as quickly as possible,’ and we mothers wondered if that’s what he meant by a long vacation.'”

A scandal erupted when an email from ADOR, which contained allegations that Chairman Bang ignored the NewJeans members’ greetings, was made public. This email, sent by ADOR to HYBE, could be the starting point of their current conflict.

“We want to clarify that the claim that the ADOR incident started from being ignored is a one-sided assertion and not true,” HYBE wrote in response.

Criticizing ADOR for “using artists as a shield for personal gain,” HYBE pointed out, “Do not try to manipulate public opinion, and we once again urge you to restrain yourself for the protection of the artist’s value.”
