Ducking the Cameras: Celeb’s Covert Police Entry Sparks Outrage

Under investigation for drunk driving and hit-and-run cases, Kim Ho Joong apologized for his private appearance at the police station. On May 21st, Kim’s agency Think Entertainment, stated, “Kim Ho Joong attended the Gangnam Police Station at 2 PM today. We sincerely apologize for not being able to stand in the photo line.”

The agency, which expects Kim Ho Joong’s police investigation to end around 5 PM, said, “Once the investigation is over, the lawyer will answer the reporters’ questions on-site. We will do our best to respond sincerely.”

Kim Ho Joong visited the Seoul Gangnam Police Station today to be investigated. Although the press set up a photo line and waited for him, Kim Ho Joong avoided it and entered the police station through the underground parking lot.

When suspicions of preferential treatment were raised, a police officer explained through several media outlets, “The police did not give any special treatment to the suspect, nor did the suspect make any special requests. We proceeded as usual according to the public relations rules.”

Kim Ho Joong is under investigation for allegedly fleeing after causing a collision with a taxi in Sinsa-dong, Seoul, on May 9th. After leaving the scene, Kim Ho Joong headed to a hotel in Gyeonggi Province and didn’t appear at the police station until 17 hours after the incident. During this time, a manager wearing Kim Ho Joong’s clothes, falsely testified to the police that he was the one who caused the accident.

Kim Ho Joong, who had been denying allegations of drunk driving after the news of the accident broke, admitted to drinking on May 19th and said, “I will sincerely cooperate with the police investigation.”

Currently, the police are investigating Think Entertainment, Kim Ho Joong’s agency, for suspected organized concealment of the incident. As a result, a travel ban has been imposed on four people, including Kim Ho Joong, the manager who confessed instead, the head of the agency who removed the black box memory card, and the agency’s representative.
