The Game Isn’t Over: ‘Squid Game’ Returns with Two New Seasons!

The globally popular Netflix series Squid Game revealed that season 3 was produced simultaneously with season 2, garnering much excitement as fans await the upcoming release.

Since the filming of season 3 has been completed, fans can expect the season to be available soon.

OSEN reported on June 14 that the cast and crew of Squid Game recently wrapped up filming for seasons 2 and 3.

After an extensive 11-month journey of filming, which started last July and ended this June, a wrap party was reportedly thrown in Gapyeong from June 11-12. Actors and crewmembers enjoyed barbeque and water sports while toasting the success of the show and marking the end of filming.

Squid Game seasons 2 and 3 were allegedly being produced concurrently, but Netflix refuted reports at the time, stating “We are currently focused on season 2, and it is not being produced simultaneously. Nothing has been verified.”

However, a source confirmed, “It’s true that seasons 2 and 3 were filmed simultaneously,” explaining, “Strictly speaking, we filmed a long story and then divided it into seasons 2 and 3.”

The second season of Squid Game is planned to have six episodes, and season 3 is also expected to have six to seven episodes, similar to the previous season. As a result, the gap between seasons 2 and 3 is not expected to be long.

Squid Game is a story about 456 players competing in a mysterious survival game for a prize of KRW 45.6 billion (approx $38 million). Since its first release in September 2021, it has gained enormous popularity worldwide.

Squid Game season 2 is directed, written, and produced by Hwang Dong Hyuk, the first Asian to win the Director’s Award at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. The cast includes Lee Jung Jae and season 1’s frontman Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Jun, and Gong Yoo, as well as Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Shim, Lee David, Choi Seung Hyun (T.O.P), No Jae Won, Jo Yu Ri, Won Ji An, and Oh Dal Su. The cast’s solid acting career and skillset are attracting public attention. The show’s release is scheduled for the second half of this year.
