Montenegro’s ‘Lying Down Contest’: Who Will Claim the Title of Laziest Citizen?

Sitting or standing violates the rules… The Grand Laziness Contest that began 12 years ago

A competition to identify the laziest person in Montenegro, Southern Europe, has gained attention.

According to the New York Post and CNN, on the 8th (local time), a contest to select the ‘laziest citizen’ was held in the resort village of Brezna in northern Montenegro.

As of the 7th, this contest lasted for 20 days. Initially, 21 people participated, and currently, 7 participants are remaining. They have been lying down for 463 hours.

Last year’s winner recorded 117 hours.

Participants can freely eat, drink, read books, and use mobile phones and laptops. However, they must do this while lying down.

Sitting or standing immediately results in disqualification from the competition. Participants are given a 10-minute restroom break every 8 hours.

The winner receives a prize of $1,070.

The organizer, Radonja Blagojevic, said, “This contest began 12 years ago to refute the stereotype that Montenegrin citizens are lazy directly.”
