Polestar has launched the Upgraded Polestar 2, significantly improving its marketability. The Polestar 2 model has overcome the high hurdle of being a new brand car and achieved its annual sales target in just a week. It remains to be seen whether the Upgraded Polestar 2 will once again write a success story based on the popularity of the existing model.

This new car has been upgraded regarding driving performance, design, infotainment system, and sustainability. In particular, the most significant change is the maximization of driving performance by adopting next-generation electric motors and inverters and the transition to rear-wheel drive.

The maximum output of the Long-Range Single Motor has been upgraded to 299hp, an increase of 68hp compared to the existing model, and the maximum torque has been increased to 50kg·m, up by 16.3kg·m. The top speed has also been improved to 127 mph, and the acceleration time to 62 mph has been shortened by 1.2 seconds. Even with the same 78kWh lithium-ion battery as the existing model, it has improved energy efficiency with a single-charge driving distance of 279 miles, an increase of 20 miles.

It also enhanced sustainability by reducing carbon footprint in the production process and inherited the design of the Polestar 3 family look. It also offers an evolved connectivity and entertaining experience by equipping the next-generation TMAP entertainment system.

The price of the Upgraded Polestar 2 Long-Range Single Motor is 55.9 million won ($47,000), and the Dual Motor is 60.9 million won ($51,000) (including VAT, excluding subsidies). With improved power efficiency, the electric car purchase subsidy has also been increased to 5 million won ($4,200) (formerly 4.88 million won) and 2.25 million won ($1,900) (once 2.01 million won).
