U.S. F-16 Jet Crash in South Korea, Pilot Ejects to Safety

An F-16 fighter jet from the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) crashed shortly after takeoff in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, on November 11. Reports indicate that the U.S. pilot aboard the crashed aircraft made an emergency escape. According to military authorities, an F-16 fighter jet from the USFK crashed into the ground nearby shortly after taking off from the Gunsan base that morning, and the pilot of the crashed aircraft made an emergency escape.

However, authorities have not yet confirmed the current condition of the pilot or any civilian casualties. The USFK is currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Currently, F-16 fighter jets from the 8th Fighter Wing under the U.S. 7th Air Force are stationed and in operation at the Gunsan base in North Jeolla Province.
