The National Intelligence Service (NIS) has requested the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) to block access to the channel of Yumi, a North Korean YouTuber who has recently been identified as resuming activity.

According to the KCSC, on the 20th, the NIS requested the KCSC block access to the Olivia Natasha channel operated by North Korean YouTuber Yumi. The KCSC plans to review this at next week’s Telecommunication Review Subcommittee meeting.

The young woman, who introduces herself as Yumi, living in Pyongyang, had revealed herself enjoying rides at an amusement park in the central district of Pyongyang or eating cold noodles and ray at the Okryugwan and seafood markets on her channel last year. However, it was pointed out that this is a lifestyle only a privileged few can enjoy.

The NIS judged this channel as North Korean regime propaganda content and requested the KCSC to block access to the channel in June last year. However, it was confirmed that Yumi uploaded a new video again on the 4th of the previous month. In the newly uploaded video, Yumi revealed her daily life, such as eating king crab, learning horse riding, and ballet.

The NIS has requested the KCSC to retake action, and the KCSC is expected to block access to the channel following the same procedure as last year.
