A shocking revelation by a famous Argentine news anchor is stirring controversy.

Juan Pedro Aleart, a well-known news anchor in the Rosario region of Argentina, shared a shocking story during Canal 3’s flagship news program on April 24, according to the local newspapers La Nación and Clarín.

Aleart confessed, “This is the first time I’m sharing my story with the viewers. I am a victim of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of my family.”

Aleart then revealed during a 30-minute live broadcast that he had been sexually abused and assaulted by his father and uncle since the age of 6.

Viewers were appalled to hear that Aleart’s father continued to sexually abuse his younger sister even after being diagnosed with HIV, leading to AIDS.

“It may feel shameful to admit that you’re a victim, but I believe the only path to healing is to speak out and denounce the abuse,” he shared while holding back tears. He then disclosed all the facts about his victimization.

Aleart had previously pressed charges against his father and uncle, and it was reported that his father made a drastic decision after learning about the charges.

Since Aleart’s revelation, there has been an increase in victims coming forward and seeking help from civic groups and other organizations.

This development is expected to accelerate the legislation process to abolish the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse.

Currently, Argentina maintains a 12-year statute of limitations for sexual crimes. Additionally, the Victim Time Respect Law is in force for cases of child sexual abuse, wherein the statute of limitations is calculated from the moment the victim files charges.
