Reason People Are Putting ‘Eyeball’ Stickers on the Backs of Trucks

The true purpose behind the eyeball stickers attached to the back of trucks has been revealed.

The video titled “The Real Reason Why Trucks These Days Have Eyeball Stickers” was previously posted on the YouTube channel ‘1under.’ It garnered attention by surpassing 5 million views.

In the video, the YouTuber asked, “Those of you who frequently use the highway must have wondered what the eyeball sticker attached to the back of the truck is for,” sparking curiosity.

He continued, “In fact, the drivers didn’t buy and stick these on, nor did they attach them just for decoration and fun.” He then asked, “So, who purposely stuck them on? That’s right.”

Before revealing the true purpose, the YouTuber highlighted the statistics of fatalities caused by highway traffic accidents from 2015 to 2019. He said, “During this period, a staggering 1,079 people lost their lives in traffic accidents. The number of deaths caused by drowsiness and attention-free was much higher than those caused by speeding.” He added, “In the last three years, deaths caused by rear-end collisions with trucks on the highway accounted for 40% of total fatalities.”

The YouTuber explained, “The Korea Expressway Corporation, who knows this situation better than anyone, started a campaign in 2020 to freely attach the so-called ‘Sleep-Awakening Big Eyes’ stickers. They carried out this campaign at rest areas nationwide targeting trucks and buses, so the general public may not have known about it.”

Did it really work? The YouTuber stated, “There are scientific results. An experiment was conducted in the UK where one unmanned sales stand had human eyes attached, and the other had just a flower picture. As a result, the stand with the human eye stickers collected 2.8 times more money. This phenomenon is called the ‘watchful eyes effect,’ and this is what the Big Eyes stickers utilize.”
