Rhys Hoskins Signs Two-Year Deal with Milwaukee Brewers in MLB Comeback

Rhys Hoskins/ Yonhap News

Power-hitting first baseman Rhys Hoskins (30), who missed the entire 2023 season due to a knee injury, will wear a Milwaukee Brewers uniform in Major League Baseball (MLB).

According to MLB.com, Hoskins agreed to a two-year contract with Milwaukee for 34 million dollars.

It also includes an opt-out clause (Breaking an existing contract and signing a new free-agent contract) that can be exercised after the first season. Both parties are currently finalizing the details of the option.

Hoskins, who debuted in the big league in 2017, played 667 games over six seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, recording a batting average of 0.242 (588 hits in 2,427 at-bats), 148 home runs, 405 RBIs, and an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 0.846.

Last year, he could not play in a single game due to a torn left anterior cruciate ligament ahead of the regular season.

MLB.com stated, “Last year, the Brewers’ first base weighted runs created (wRC+) ranked 28th in the league,” and evaluated “Hoskins’ bat has trade value.”
