The iPhone 16 series is expected to be released in four models: standard, plus, pro, and pro max. It has been reported that the battery capacity of all models, except the Plus, will increase.

In particular, the Pro Max is expected to witness the most significant enhancement. The tipster revealed that a larger battery cell and low-power components will be used.

Previously, Apple installed a 4,422mAh battery in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to feature a 5% increase, with a 4,676mAh battery. It is projected to support up to 40W in wired charging and 20W in MagSafe charging.

The battery design may change from an L-shape to a rectangle. IT tipster Majin Bu revealed a rendering image showcasing this new battery design on his X account.

The screen size of the iPhone 16 series is expected to increase. Several foreign media outlets, including MacRumors, have speculated that Apple will equip the iPhone 16 Pro model with a larger display.

The iPhone 16 Pro is anticipated to feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max is expected to feature a 6.9-inch display. The current iPhone 15 Pro is 6.1 inches, and the Pro Max is 6.7 inches.

If the form factor size increases, there is a high possibility that the battery capacity will also increase as a larger battery can be installed within the expanded space.

However, the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Plus is reported to remain unchanged. This means it could continue to use the 4,383mAh battery of the iPhone 15 Plus.

Why is the Plus model the only exception? The IT specialist BGR speculates that maintaining the existing battery capacity aims to differentiate it from the Pro model. Tipster yeux1122 also predicts that Apple will prioritize battery performance in the upcoming iPhone series, particularly with the Pro model.

In the iPhone 15 series, the Plus model has the most extended battery life. In September last year, UK IT tipster Mrwhosetheboss conducted a battery life test, and the iPhone 15 Plus recorded 13 hours and 19 minutes, ranking first.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max stayed in second place with 11 hours and 41 minutes. Although the Plus has a smaller battery capacity than the Pro Max, it showcased a longer life.

Recently, Apple even produced an advertisement emphasizing this. The ad shows a father filming his son’s smashing scene with an iPhone 15 Plus. It demonstrated remaining battery power even after filming for over 5 hours until nightfall.

How is the iPhone 16 series released?

The iPhone 16 series is poised to introduce extensive generative AI features starting from this series. On February 13 (local time), MacRumors disclosed that iOS 18 will incorporate various Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities, with notable enhancements anticipated in Siri, Apple Music, and iMessage. Some features are expected to be exclusive to the new iPhone models.

The telephoto lens is expected to be extended to all Pro models, potentially incorporating tetraprism technology into the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Currently, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a telephoto lens.

Tetraprism is a technology that utilizes a specialized prism structure beneath the lens, bending light internally four times to reach the image sensor. This innovative approach enables achieving a long focal length within a compact space.
