iPhone 16 Pro Rumor Mill: New Titanium Colors Unveiled

IT tipster Majin Bu claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro will introduce new color options. The new colors are Titanium Gray and Desert Titanium.

The first titanium iPhone

Apple

Last September, Apple applied a titanium frame to the iPhone 15 series for the first time. Titanium, known for its lightweight properties and durability, replaced the stainless steel used in previous models.

The iPhone 15 Pro was released with four color variants: Black Titanium, White Titanium, Blue Titanium, and Natural Titanium. However, feedback suggested that the titanium-based colors appear duller and darker than expected.

Titanium naturally has a dull and dark color. Of course, titanium can display various colors, such as yellow, red, and green, through an electrochemical oxidation process. Nevertheless, Apple opted to maintain the unique image of titanium directly in the Pro model.

The next iPhone 16 Pro is likely to apply the same titanium. Tipster Majin Bu claimed that new titanium color options will be introduced to the iPhone 16 Pro. This marks the first forecast regarding the color choices for the iPhone 16 Pro.

Majin Bu explained that Apple is currently testing two distinct colors: Titanium Gray and Desert Titanium. Titanium Gray is a light gray color similar to cement and may be similar to Space Gray used on iPhone 6. On the other hand, Desert Titanium is expected to embody a deep, rich desert sand color, resembling the gold variant of the iPhone 14 Pro.

IT specialized media WccfTech explained that Apple is unlikely to reuse the colors used in previous models, indicating that the titanium colors for the iPhone 16 Pro may showcase subtle or significant deviations from previous models.

The tipster explained that discussions about additional colors are underway, but the chances are low. Above all, he cautioned that it was too early to be sure as these colors were still in the testing stage.

Highly likely

Apple

IT media outlet MacRumors, well-informed about Apple news, saw a strong likelihood of the Titanium Gray and Desert Titanium colors being introduced, considering the color trends of previous iPhone Pro models.

Typically, the latest iPhone Pro has been released in four colors. Previously, the iPhone Pro only had standard colors like black, white, and gold. However, Apple began to expand its color palette with variations such as green and purple, starting with the iPhone XR, the sequel to the iPhone X, in 2018.

Apple

Each year, Apple introduces new color options beyond the basic black and white. For this reason, MacRumors explained that the Black Titanium and White Titanium colors of the iPhone 15 Pro will be maintained in the next model. On the other hand, the Blue Titanium and Natural Titanium of the iPhone 15 Pro are likely to be replaced with new color options, Titanium Gray and Desert Titanium.

Above all, MacRumors saw that the Desert Titanium color would be released, citing the absence of the gold variant in the iPhone 15 Pro series. Historically, the iPhone gold color has been consistently available from the iPhone 5S in 2013 to the iPhone 8 in 2017 and from the iPhone XS in 2018 to the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022. The only iPhone model without gold color was the iPhone 15 Pro lineup since 2013.

iPhone 16 release date and differences

Majin Bu

The upcoming iPhone 16 series, anticipated to launch in September this year, is expected to deviate from the traditional configuration. Apple has been releasing the iPhone series in four models: SE, standard, PRO, and PRO MAX for years.

However, the iPhone 16 series might introduce a fifth model. The iPhone SE, which was previously categorized under a separate product line, may be included in the iPhone 16 series. The configuration could be iPhone 16 SE, iPhone 16 Plus SE, iPhone 16 Regular, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

IT specialized media GizmoChina explained that this expansion might aim to provide more options in various price ranges by including the budget-friendly SE lineup into the series.
