See How This Vintage Jaguar Mark X Was Brought Back to Life

A vintage Jaguar Mark X

Been cleaned up to a neat appearance

The world of vintage cars offers a unique charm different from recently released models. In major auto markets, including the U.S., the culture of vintage vehicles is thriving. It is relatively easy to find parts even for models released decades ago, so quite a few people find neglected vintage cars, restore them, and drive them around.

In the current era, where YouTube is a popular content platform, many YouTubers feature vintage cars as their main subject. Recently, a YouTuber discovered a vintage Jaguar Mark X produced in the 1960s, cleaned it up, and created video content that has become a hot topic worldwide.

What kind of model is the Jaguar Mark X?
It continued its lineage as the XJ in the future

The Mark series is a large sedan lineup from Jaguar, and the Mark X is a 10th-generation model released in 1961. It was developed primarily by William Heynes, a senior engineer at Jaguar. Jaguar’s car style has long been likened to Bentley’s, earning it the nickname “budget Bentley.” The Mark X also applied a design similar to Bentley’s.

The engine was available in a 3.8-liter and a 4.2-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. The available transmissions were a 4-speed manual and a 3-speed automatic. It featured top-of-the-line specifications for its time, including 4-wheel disc brakes, a monocoque structure, double wishbone suspension, and power steering. It was sold until 1966, then evolved into the 420G and later the XJ, which is somewhat known to us.

The Mark X was found in a barn and was brought to a workshop for cleaning

A YouTuber, Detail Dane, discovered a Jaguar Mark X in an old barn. According to him, it had been stored in a barn in Michigan since the mid-1990s and left untouched. It had been neglected in the barn for nearly 30 years.

The YouTuber took the car to his workshop and began working on it immediately. He started by vacuuming the dirt and dust accumulated in the engine compartment, then cleaned the dirt and dust on the exterior, cleaned the interior, and finally polished it.

It has been cleaned up but is not drivable
It is currently listed for sale along with the barn

The polished Mark X appeared much cleaner than when found in the barn. However, only cleaning and polishing have been done, and overall restoration has not been done. Therefore, the paint is peeling off in various places on the exterior, and the car’s body is leaning to the right. Naturally, it is not drivable. However, some people love vintage cars and collect them for storage and appreciation, even if they are not drivable, so they have some value.

This Mark X is currently listed for sale. Due to issues such as the car not being drivable and the paint peeling off the exterior, it is listed for $10,000.
