It goes without saying, but reckless driving is dangerous regardless of the vehicle type. However, the risk varies greatly depending on the vehicle type. Supercars boast agility that ordinary passenger vehicles cannot match, but they are also easy to accelerate.

Recently, a suspect was killed in an accident while on a chase with police in a stolen Lamborghini. Was the criminal mistaken in believing that he could escape from the police because of his strong performance? Let’s look at the scene captured in the police vehicle at the time.

On May 8, 2024 (local time), the Los Angeles Police Department revealed a video of the incident filmed around 5:30 a.m. on April 6, 2024. West Valley Patrol officers noticed something suspicious about a Lamborghini Huracan that had stopped at the Sherman Way traffic light while driving earlier. Even though the go-straight signal was on, the vehicle did not start for a long time.

The police, who found this suspicious, stopped the vehicle the next block over and began an inspection. The driver was briefly asleep when police approached the vehicle. After receiving the driver’s license and checking his background, the police were able to confirm that the driver had several felony warrants issued. It was further confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen, contrary to the driver’s statement that it was a rental car.

A Fatal Escape

Police ordered the driver in question to exit the vehicle, but he repeatedly refused to comply. The police pulled the door handle to get him out, but it was locked and wouldn’t open. After a brief scuffle, the driver took advantage of the opportunity and began running away from the police. The police rushed after him, but it was realistically difficult to catch up with the supercar.

However, not long after sending the support request, a shocking scene unfolded in front of their eyes. The getaway vehicle seemed to have lost control at high speed and eventually caused an accident. When the police arrived, the vehicle was damaged beyond recognition, and debris was scattered all over the road.

The driver died at the scene

Police searching the area found his body on the side of the road dozens of feet away. It is presumed that the passenger space inside the vehicle was torn and thrown away at the time of the accident. There were no casualties, but debris caused property damage to nearby parked vehicles. According to the results of on-site analysis, the speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident reached 112 mph.
