Iconic Salen S7 Hits the Market: Could This Be the Auction of the Year?

When discussing supercars, the brands that typically come to mind first might vary from person to person, but many would likely think of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. However, there’s a lesser-known contender in the supercar market: Saleen.

Saleen is an American automobile and tuning brand. The company has accumulated know-how by tuning Ford vehicles and has even released its production model based on this know-how. The result is the S7, which is still recognized as one of America’s representative supercars. The S7, which has tremendous symbolism and rarity, recently appeared for auction and is attracting the attention of vehicle enthusiasts worldwide.

The Saleen S7 features a body made of autoclave-cured carbon fiber. It presents a strong image through electric butterfly doors and intake ports integrated into the roofline. The vehicle’s color is Lizstick Red, further emphasizing its strong image.

For the model up for auction, a large carbon fiber rear wing, carbon front splitter, and rear diffuser were added through the Competition Package. The forged alloy wheels are 19 inches in diameter and 20 inches in rear diameter, and the tires were replaced in 2023.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel features red stitching that adds a sporty touch. Front and center, there’s an 8,000 RPM tachometer, a speedometer that goes up to 386 km/h (239.8 mph), and gauges for monitoring fuel levels and coolant temperature. The odometer reads just 1,770 km (1,100 miles), indicating the vehicle is in nearly new condition.

The 2005 Saleen S7 up for auction is known to be the only twin-turbo model with a 1,000 horsepower competition package. Its power comes from a 7.0L V8 with an aluminum block. According to the listing, when the engine was overhauled in 2019, pistons, connecting rods, billet camshafts, and custom roll lifters were replaced and used.

In 2022, a new turbocharger and injector were installed, and the wiring harness was replaced. The engine management system was upgraded, making it possible to drive on E85 (Fuel based on bioethanol), and a launch control function was also added. The Saleen S7 is receiving a lot of attention and is priced at about $650,00. The final sale price is attracting much attention since the same model has been sold for about $1.2 million.
