Casper Electric Eyes Global Domination, But Will It Come to the U.S.?

Hyundai Casper Electric
Plans to aggressively target global markets
What will the global market reaction be like?

Casper Electric

The Busan Mobility Show has been somewhat disappointing due to the limited presence of foreign manufacturers. However, it offers an excellent opportunity for many people to explore numerous new cars from South Korean automakers, aiding them in making actual purchases. Hyundai’s electric vehicle, the Casper Electric, garnered the most attention across all ages and genders.

As it was transformed into an electric vehicle, its size inevitably increased from a mini-vehicle to a subcompact SUV. However, unlike the reaction before the release, which was concerned when the car was actually unveiled, the reaction was mainly positive. This is particularly relevant given that consumers prefer small, practical SUVs. The response to these vehicles has been explosive, even in international markets. Let’s delve into what the appeal is.

Cute design, targeting a niche market
Powerful performance for its size

This Casper Electric is scheduled to be unveiled overseas under the model name Inster. It is said that they plan to target Europe and Japan, where subcompact and compact vehicles are popular. This is especially exciting as the company plans to export 80% of its production to Europe.

Reactions to Casper Electric overseas have been generally positive. Reviewers have praised it for maintaining the cute and funky look of the existing mini-vehicle while enlarging it just enough. The interior space, which includes various convenient features for the price and size of the car, along with its ease of driving, were highlighted as significant advantages.

Entry into the entry-level electric vehicle market
Increased practicality with a larger body

Although the specific price has not yet been revealed, it is expected to popularize electric vehicles, forming a price range between $19,431 and $21,590. Even overseas, the company’s will to target the niche market of entry-level vehicles at an affordable price stood out.

With one full charge, it can secure a driving range of 355 km (221 miles) based on WLTP, making it highly useful as a second vehicle. In particular, with the change to an electric vehicle, the increased wheelbase secured more interior space than the previous mini-vehicle, and the trunk capacity was increased, so some are responding that it has become more practical.

Exporting to 54 Countries, the US is Not Yet Included
The Crossover Model Also Planned

Casper Electric is scheduled to be exported to about 54 countries, including Japan and Europe, but no news of its launch has yet been announced in the US market. As the slump in electric vehicles continues in the US market, some local evaluations say that Casper has the right size, performance, and price to solve this problem. Hence, its launch in the US is even more necessary.

In the future, a crossover model with an off-road style exterior design will be launched along with the base model, so we have high expectations for Casper Electric.
