Pagani, a handmade supercar manufacturing company, was founded in 1992 by Argentine Horacio Pagani, a former Lamborghini engineer. Horacio Pagani is one of the world’s leading carbon fiber experts, and under this influence, all supercars produced by Pagani are said to have carbon fiber applied.

The first model released by the Pagani brand was the Pagani Zonda, which was first unveiled at the 1999 Geneva International Motor Show. This year, Zonda’s launch celebrated its 25th anniversary, and to commemorate the launch, students at the European Design Institute collaborated with Pagani to make the Alisea concept car.

The Pagani Zonda is a model produced from 1999 to 2019 and has been officially discontinued. It is one of the world’s best performance vehicles, features a futuristic design, and is said to have been created by Horacio Pagani for legendary F1 driver Juan Manuel Fangio.

This year, to commemorate Pagani Zonda’s 25th anniversary, 24 students from the European Design Institute (Istituto Europeo di Design) created the Alisea concept car with a timeless design.

Students at the European Design Institute designed Alisea based on Leonardo da Vinci’s belief that art and science can be in harmony. They focused on principles such as the golden ratio while also considering contemporary design trends.

By removing large air vents and scoops, the smooth surface of the car body is emphasized

Alisea’s aerodynamic principles and packaging are said to be inspired by Le Mans racing vehicles. The smooth surfaces typically found in high-performance vehicles have been further maximized by eliminating large vents and scoops. It also features a bubble canopy inspired by the Group C endurance race vehicles of the 1980s.

The wheels made by OZ Racing appear to be inspired by the wheels of the Pagani Utopia. The convex wheel arches emphasized the curves. The chic satin paint harmonizes shadow and light on the sculptural body, eliminating unnecessary details. Compared to the Zonda, the mounted mirrors are slimmer for a sleeker look, the signature quad headlights have a more modern appearance, and the curved tail lamps are reminiscent of the track-only model Zonda R.

There is no production schedule yet, but they may accept orders for production

Meanwhile, students at the European Design Institute reportedly worked with Pagani at every stage of the project, from Alisea’s sketches and digital 3D models to 1:1 concept creation. Additionally, the students said they paid particular attention to surface treatment to make the vehicle body as clean as possible.

Unfortunately, it has not yet been confirmed whether Alisea will be made into a mass-produced model. However, just as Pagani has officially discontinued the Zonda, it makes and sells a one-off model if buyers place special orders. Alisea is also likely to produce a mass-produced model of the vehicle if many people want to purchase it.
