Despite its grand exterior, China’s rocket forces are reportedly in a severe state due to corruption and bribery./Beijing Qingnianbao.

As the Chinese authorities intensify their war on corruption more than ever around the end of the year, a storm of bloodshed is blowing in the military and political circles. Judging by the atmosphere, the situation is likely to get even more brutal in the future. It seems that there will be constant screams from high-ranking military and political circles throughout this year. According to reports from various Chinese media outlets on the 7th, the situation in the military seems quite severe. High-ranking generals are falling one after another due to their involvement in corruption. Some are expected to face severe punishment. There are rumors that some generals may even lose their lives, which is a stark reality.

Specifically, the fact that the fallen generals, including seven major generals, amounted to more than 30 explains volumes about the severity of the situation. It is even more shocking to look at the faces of those who have embezzled. Major General Ju Qiansheng, commander of the Strategic Support Force, which is deeply involved in the procurement of military equipment for the rocket forces; Major General Feng Danyu, deputy commander of the navy, and Major General Wang Dazhong, commander of the Northern Theater Navy, are among the most notable.

Looking back to the end of October last year, the pervasive scent of an impending military storm is far from a mere coincidence. Former Defense Minister Li Shangfu, Rocket Force Commander Li Yuchao, and several other military leaders were toppled in corruption cases during that period. This series of events could be a precursor to the current situation.

In fact, corruption and bribery in the Chinese military are not recent phenomena. According to Bloomberg, the Rocket Forces, which General Secretary and President Xi Jinping established in 2016, are said to be utterly shocking. It is known that there are countless cases where water is filled instead of fuel in missiles, or the missile silo lid does not work, preventing the missile from being launched. As an enraged President Xi, he has no choice but to wield the sword of justice.

The situation is no different in the party and government. From the beginning of the year, high-ranking officials in central and local governments and state-owned enterprises have been falling like autumn leaves.

Looking at the sharp momentum of the current authorities, it is clear that the high-ranking officials of the Chinese military and political circles will have to lie low in the future. However, the likelihood of the storm of justice subsiding is not high. The scale of the corruption and bribery they have committed over the years is no joke. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the storm targeting high-ranking officials in the Chinese military and political circles has just begun to blow in earnest.
