19-year-old Chinese influencer Liu Junyue, with over 200,000 followers, is in a coma after being stabbed.

On March 19, Liu Junyue’s family shared his condition through social media.

In a statement released by the family, they explained that on March 4, Liu Junyue was assisting with a move. They added that during dinner, loud noise from the air conditioner unit located outside a downstairs apartment prompted Liu Junyue to investigate.

An argument broke out with the neighbor, and Liu Junyue stepped forward to stop it. However, the neighbor pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed Liu Junyue in the back of his head, causing him to collapse on the spot, bleeding.

He was transported to the hospital but was unable to be discharged from the intensive care unit. The perpetrator has been arrested, but no apology has been received.

The decision to crowdfund Liu Junyue’s medical expenses sparked debate. Liu Junyue’s sister addressed the controversy, explaining, “The hospitalization costs were significant, and raising funds urgently was necessary. Since the incident is being investigated as a criminal case, we couldn’t utilize medical insurance, leaving us to cover the expenses ourselves. Unfortunately, this financial burden is proving difficult for our ordinary family.”

The incident occurred just as Liu Junyue awaited his college entrance exam results. He had reportedly passed the first round of exams at the Central Academy of Drama, a prestigious performing arts institution in China.
