Chinese space authorities have successfully launched a communication satellite for the first time this year, according to Chinese media.

On the 24th, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) launched the Communication Technology Experimental Satellite No. 11 from the Wenchang Launch Center in Hainan Province at 7:30 p.m. the previous day. The satellite was launched aboard the Changzheng 5 Y7 carrier rocket and reportedly landed in its planned orbit.

According to Chinese media, the satellite will be mainly used for multi-band, high-speed satellite communication technology verification, and the Changzheng 5 rocket is a super large rocket, also known as “Fat Five,” independently developed by China.

According to Chinese media, this satellite is expected to be used in satellite communications, but Western countries see the potential for military use. The U.S. space specialist media outlet “Space News” has reported that “China launched a secret military satellite into geostationary orbit” along with the news of the satellite launch.
