① Iconic Nordic Destination: Finland

Finland Travel / Instagram@leviniglut

Finland, a dream Nordic destination, is a popular bucket-list travel spot for many tourists who wish to marvel at the Northern Lights. Traveling to Finland may not be as easy or affordable as other destinations, due to the numerous attractions to explore and the significant costs involved.

As the northernmost country in Europe, Finland offers the ultimate winter wonderland experience. It is a place where real reindeer roam freely and majestic Christmas trees form dense forests. The sky lights up at night with the dazzling Aurora Borealis, creating a mystical scene.

One of the can’t-miss experiences during a trip to Finland is staying in an igloo. Unlike anything you can find elsewhere, these unique accommodations are common in Finland. Although they can be quite pricey, many dream of the Finnish igloo accommodations, which can flutter your heart. If you’re dreaming of a trip to Finland, a romantic igloo trip in a snowy winter might be worth considering.

② Luxury Glass Igloo Accommodations in Finland

Levin Iglut Glass Igloos is a luxury igloo accommodation. The highlight of this place is that the entire guest room is made of glass. You can fully enjoy the winter scenery of Finland while lying in bed.

When you use the room, you can also use an outdoor jacuzzi. It’s a great place to appreciate the snow-covered Finnish landscape from a private terrace. Though the glass structure might seem cold, the interior is warm and even includes a fireplace. The room is equipped with a simple kitchen, including a sink, refrigerator, and dishes.

The biggest advantage of the glass room is that you don’t have to go outside to see the Northern Lights. You can enjoy the Aurora Borealis spread across the sky from your room if you are lucky. It’s a place where you can watch the Aurora all night long.

The hotel has an Aurora House, designed especially for viewing the Northern Lights. The dream-like scenery from the room will likely be remembered as a special experience for a long time. The best time to visit is from September to March.

Room prices are on the expensive side, exceeding 1000 euros (approximately $1,180) per night, but they are fully booked as winter approaches. Travelers who visited ‘Levin Iglut Glass Igloos’ left reviews such as “a special place that will be remembered as a bucket-list hotel forever. The Aurora is unforgettable”, “a place where you can see the sky from the bed”, “I recommend staying for more than one night”.

However, some reviews expressed disappointment considering the room price. They found it regrettable that all the hotel facilities were expensive and no transportation was provided. Some also left reviews stating that the later the check-in time, the worse the room assignment.

③ Waking Up to the Northern Lights

Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle

‘Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle’ is located in Rovaniemi, in the northern part of Finland’s Lapland, where Santa Village is located. Right in front of Santa Claus Village offers an even more special travel experience. True to the Santa Village, you can meet Santa and ride a sled pulled by huskies at the accommodation.

The rooms at ‘Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle’ are made of glass. They are well-heated and the accommodation provides its own Aurora alert service. Because you can directly appreciate the Aurora spread outside the glass window, it leaves a special memory for tourists. Next to the room, you can use outdoor jacuzzi and sauna facilities.

The fact that you can lie down and enjoy the unbelievable scenery alone makes it a core part of a Finland trip. Guests left reviews such as “a very cozy cabin”, “the food quality isn’t high but the room view is impressive”, and “a very cool hotel, you can have a unique experience of sleeping in a glass igloo under the stars”.

Arctic Fox Igloos

‘Arctic Fox Igloos’ is located in the center of Lake Ranuanjärvi. The room view offers a wide-open view, allowing you to feel the Finnish winter throughout your stay. All igloos are made of glass, allowing you to enjoy the 360-degree view of the Aurora landscape.

If you reserve a car in advance, you can move at a more reasonable price than a taxi. The Ranua Wildlife Park is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Here, you can see Finland’s wild polar bears, making it a good place to visit together.

Guests introduced it as a place where you can see breathtakingly beautiful scenery.
