Nikki Haley Solidifies Support Among Anti-Trump Voters, New Poll Says

CBS Poll Targets Voters in New Hampshire, Iowa
Haley Tops in Favorability, Rationality Support

Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. and Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is solidifying her base as an alternative to former President Donald Trump among moderates, CBS reported on the 17th (local time).

CBS announced the results of a poll conducted from the 8th to the 15th targeting 855 registered voters in New Hampshire and 1,054 in Iowa. Iowa and New Hampshire are states where the first Republican caucus and primary will be held next year. They are widely regarded as an indicator of the overall election trajectory.

In New Hampshire, Trump secured the lead with 44%, trailed by Haley with 29%, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 11%. Meanwhile, in Iowa, the rankings stood with Trump at 58%, DeSantis at 22%, and Haley at 13%.

Leadership and Readiness Comparison

CBS noted in their coverage that while former President Trump is ahead in both states, Haley is quickly becoming a formidable alternative. She has managed to attract a substantial share of the votes from those opposed to Trump.

Haley has distinguished herself by securing the highest level of support in the more moderate-leaning state of New Hampshire, achieving 55% in favorability and 51% in rationality. In comparison, Trump ranked lower, placing fourth with a 36% favorability rating and third in rationality at 36%.

Regarding readiness, Trump ranked first with 54%, but Haley, who came in second, was only one percentage point behind at 53%.

CBS reported that Haley scored notably high in areas like “favorability” and “rationality” among the prominent candidates and was nearly on par with Trump, who boasts tenure experience, regarding readiness. Based on these observations, Haley is viewed as the most likely candidate to win among those challenging Trump.

Trump took first place with an overwhelming 66% support rate in the strong candidate aspect. The ranking was followed by Governor DeSantis at 45% and Haley at 41%.

CBS highlighted that although Trump wasn’t perceived as a likable or rational candidate, he received significant support for being a strong leader capable of defeating Democratic President Joe Biden.
