Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that he will not abandon the objectives of the “special military operation,” indicating a continuation of the war with Ukraine.

According to the AP news on the 19th (local time), President Putin, during an expanded meeting of the Defense Ministry Board attended by the military leadership, stated, “The Russian army is in control,” asserting, “We are effectively doing what we believe is necessary, and we are achieving what we want.” He added, “While the enemy is trying to demonstrate the results of a counterattack, they have suffered many casualties and wasted a significant portion of their reserve forces,” and remarked, “The invincible myth of Western weapons has also collapsed.”

President Putin emphasized, “All attempts by the West to inflict military and strategic defeat on us have been shattered by the courage and indomitable will of our soldiers and the potential of the defense industry.”

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also stated, “The priority task for next year is to continue special military operations until all missions are accomplished.” He mentioned, “650,000 Russian soldiers have gained combat experience in Ukraine,” and asserted, “The Russian army has become the most well-prepared and capable force in the world, armed with advanced weapons proven in real combat.”

Minister Shoigu revealed that since the start of special military operations, tank production in Russia has increased 5.6 times, and the production of drones and artillery ammunition has increased by 16.8 times and 17.5 times, respectively. He also explained that preparations for the practical deployment of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) are being finalized, and infrastructure is being developed for the deployment of the nuclear-powered cruise missile Burevestnik and the nuclear-powered underwater drone Poseidon.

President Putin reiterated the claim that Russia invaded Ukraine in response to the threat from the West to incorporate Ukraine into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). While stating that Russia is willing to negotiate for an end to the war if the West desires, he added, “We will negotiate based on our national interests.”
