Why the World Needs President Donald Trump

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson argued that the world might need Donald Trump, the former U.S. President, to be re-elected as President.
In a column written for the British media outlet Daily Mail on the 19th (local time), Johnson cited the war in Ukraine and the situation in Gaza and the Middle East as examples, diagnosing that Trump’s re-election could aid in deterring the West’s enemies.
“The world might just need Trump to be President,” Johnson said, refuting a media article that identified Trump as the biggest risk factor for the world in 2024.
“With Trump in power, the West could become stronger and the world could have a chance to stabilize,” he said, posing the question, “Can we say the world is safer now than when Trump was President?”
Johnson also predicted that if Trump were re-elected, he would side with Ukraine, despite his previous opposition to assistance for Ukraine. “We cannot simply assume that Trump will abandon the Ukrainians,” he said, “It’s certain that Trump will have no dealings with Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
Furthermore, Johnson argued, “If Trump does the right thing and supports the Ukrainians, his presidency could be a great victory for the world.”
Moreover, regarding global turmoil such as the Israeli surprise attacks by the Palestinian armed group Hamas and the threat of the Yemeni rebel Houthi in the Red Sea, he emphasized, “The world now needs a U.S. leader who is willing to exercise power, and unpredictability is a major deterrent against the enemies of the West.”
Johnson, who served as Prime Minister of the UK for about two years from July 2019, maintained a close relationship with former President Trump during his term. He is evaluated as one of the Western leaders who most actively supported Ukraine, which stands against Russia.
