United Airlines Returns: Direct Flights to Israel Back on Schedule

United Airlines is resuming its flights to Israel.

Reuters reported on the 22nd (local time) that United Airlines is scheduled to be the first U.S. airline to resume direct flights to Israel early next month following attacks on southern Israel by Hamas armed forces.

United Airlines said, “We conducted a detailed safety analysis of this decision in close cooperation with security experts and government administrators in the United States and Israel.”

On the other hand, it revealed plans to resume flights from Newark to Tel Aviv next month, but there are no plans to resume flights departing from other U.S. cities, at least until this fall.

The resumption of United Airlines flights to Israel signifies a potential turning point for Israel after the war.

According to Thomson Reuters, United Airlines aims to resume daily non-stop flights from Newark to Tel Aviv on a Boeing 787-10 starting from March 6th.

Also, the airline said, “We plan to operate flights from Newark to Tel Aviv via Munich, Germany, on March 2nd and 4th, and all service providers supporting non-stop services going to and from Newark are ready.”

In addition, it added that flights that have not been resumed yet will be evaluated for resumption from this fall.

United Airlines operated four direct flights daily to Tel Aviv from Newark, San Francisco, Washington, and Chicago until October 7th last year.

However, after the Gaza war, United Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Airlines all ceased operations in Israel.

European airlines that have resumed flights to Tel Aviv include Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Aegean, and Air France.
