What to Expect from the New Mercedes S-Class Coming This Quarter

KOLESA

The S-Class can be said to be the top of the Mercedes-Benz sedan lineup. There are more luxurious Maybach models, but driving just the S-Class is enough to impress those around you with success. The current S-Class is in its 10th generation (codename W223), which appeared in 2020 and will be in its 4th year since its launch in 2024.

As the facelift period gradually approaches, new S-class prototypes are often spotted overseas undergoing road testing. However, there is controversy as it appears that the triangular star headlamp, which has mixed likes and dislikes in the latest Mercedes-Benz vehicles, is also applied to this new model. Let’s see what the new model may look like through rendering.

Rendering Based On Spy Shots

On June 19, 2024 (local time), Russian media KOLESA published a rendering of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class provided by Nikita Chuiko, an artist specializing in automotive CGI rendering. It was produced based on spy shots posted before this rendering and boasts a high level of completeness. As it is a facelift model, it has an overall similar layout to the current model, but there are significant changes to the front.

The headlamp has the same appearance as the current one, but triangular star details have been added to the interior. This element functions as both a daytime running light (DRL) and a turn signal light. Black high-gloss was added around the radiator grille to emphasize the sense of connection with the headlamps. The outline of the grille is similar to the current one, but the edges of the chrome border are slightly tilted, giving a sleek impression. Judging by the shape of the front bumper, it is presumed to be an AMG line, and the left and right air intakes are similar to the existing ones. The lower center intake became thinner as the grille area was expanded.

What’s The Difference With The E-Class?

There are no dramatic differences visible on the side. The usual level of change with the addition of new wheels is expected. The tail lamp is the key to the rear. The triangular star tail lamp graphic, which was previously applied to the E-Class full-change model (redesigned model), was included without fail. However, there are two triangle stars on each side of the E-class, but the S-class has three.

As it is an AMG line, it features a black high-gloss finish around the muffler tip. The shape of the remaining elements like the muffler tip and reflector is no different from the existing model. As the response to the rear design of the current model was generally positive, the conservative direction of minimizing changes stands out.

Likely To Feature Hyper Screen and A Possible Launch In Q4 This Year

Meanwhile, the extent of interior changes is expected to be significant. It is likely to be equipped with the Hyper Screen Display, which was first applied to the E-Class. The specification goes beyond simply having a large display area and also provides a screen for enjoying content in the passenger seat. The passenger can stream media and play games while the car is in motion. Not to mention it also supports installing third-party apps. To prevent the driver from being distracted, the passenger screen is made invisible from the driver’s seat.

It’s been reported that the powertrain will maintain its current configuration of gasoline, diesel, and PHEV. The industry predicts the launch of the new S-Class to be in the fourth quarter of 2024.
